Chris Robinson Brotherhood

Those who know me know full well that I have a very diverse set of musical likes.  Recently, I have discovered, or perhaps rediscovered, Chris Robinson Brotherhood.  Of course, I was a fan of the Black Crowes with Robinson on vocals back in their heyday.  I originally tuned in for their debut album, Shake Your Money Maker, but really I would have to rank Southern Harmony and Musical Companion as their best effort on my list.

Chris Robinson has stayed true to those southern musical roots with his new ensemble, The Chris Robinson Brotherhood, but has added in a  healthy dose of San Francisco hippy sensibility to go along with it.  Think a lazy afternoon summer jam by the Allman Brothers meets an early Grateful Dead trippy tune.  The perfect mix for me.

For starters, check out Big Moon Ritual with the track Tulsa Yesterday.  My first experiment with CBB and still my favourite track. Their new album, Barefoot in the Head was released recently with a fantastic track called Behold the Seer.  Check it out on Jam In The Van, a really fun site in its own right.
